Hello Everyone

I’ve found that I can enable IntelliSnap backup for Google GCP VM Intances. What exactly does it mean?

I am familiar with IntelliSnap for other solutions (VMware, Hyper-V and so on) and IntelliSnap makes hardware snapshot of vol/LUN when backuped data lives. I wasn’t able to find any related information how process of IntelliSnap backup within GCP VM environment works. What is the sequence, where snapshots are maintained, what is the difference between regular streaming GCP VSA VM backups and IntelliSnap ones. IBOL states “enable checkbox to run IntelliSnap”, but I am technical guy, I would like to know what does it mean ;)

Any theoretical knowledge & experience?

Kindest regards,

M.

@Maciek , we have a few docs that might help:

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/essential/132501_backup_process_for_google_cloud_platform.html#intellisnap-backup

and

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/essential/132509_restore_process_for_google_cloud_platform.html#restore-from-intellisnap-backup

Can you see if there are any remaining questions not covered here?

That’s a good question.  Let me reach out to a few different teams to see what’s actually happening.

Might take a bit, but I’m on it!
