Hi,

We have a big VM machine that uses 2 separated Netapp datastores as its storages. I wonder if intelliSnap could work on this situation? If not, which method should we do to backup this VM machine?

Thank you.

Hello @TD89 ,

With intellisnap ,

it will first create the snapshot on the VM and then create the hardware snapshot for both the datastore.

There will be only one snapshot on the VM.

IntelliSnap backup should work with VM spread across multiple datasores.

Hi @asancheti,

Thank you for the response. I still don’t quite get it. So, if I have a VM uses both NetApp-datastore-1 and NetApp-datastore-2. When I use the intelliSnap on both of these 2 Datastores, It would capture the snapshot of this VM 2 times?

Hi @asancheti

Thank you for the reply.

I have another silly question, and I hope you don’t mind.

For example, the C and D drive of that VM use the Netapp-Datastore#1, and the E drive uses Netapp-Datastore#2. As I enable intelliSnap backup on both Netapp-Datastore#1 and Netapp-Datastore#2, when the backups kick in, the Netapp-Datastore#1 will create the snapshot for the VM first, then it will create snapshot for the hardware which are the drives. And for the Netapp-Datastore#2 it will only create a snapshot of a E Drive right?
