Hello Team,

Just want check the best practice of configuration for VM's scheduling policy.

We have 250 VM's including critical and non-critical, Based on critical and non-critical the Server Backup plan is created.

While creating SBP (server Backup plan)  the schedule policy automatically created and associated with SBP.

Now we don't want run all the VM's in same scheduling time and will run batch by batch in different backup sub client jobs.

Please advise the best way for scheduling option.

Thanks and Regards,

Anand

There's a stagger option in the scheduling settings so you can put a delay between each subclient launching.

@Aplynx,

Please advise, where will find the option of delay settings in subclient level.

Jobs Stagger Time

This option is available for data protection schedule policy schedules (tasks). If a schedule on a schedule policy starts multiple jobs, you can configure the number of seconds each job waits before it runs. For example, 125 clients are associated with one schedule policy schedule and the stagger time is set to 5 seconds. Instead of starting all of the jobs at the same time, each job starts 5 seconds after the job before it. The jobs are in a queued state until the stagger time is reached.

To set this option, open a data protection schedule policy, select a schedule, and click Edit. In the Backup Task Options dialog box, click Advanced and then click the Startup tab. For information about schedule policies, see Overview of Schedule Policy.

@Aplynx ,

Thanks for your update.

We checked this settings and the stagger time is maximum of 10 seconds. We have multiple jobs and the same time all the jobs are starting. Each job only 10 seconds in gap to start the another job.

If any other options available in Commvault.

If any other options available in Commvault.

If your VMs are in various Server Groups, you could use “Job start time” to stagger them.

Thanks,
Scott
