Hi..

When setting a Blackout Window on a schedule policy the clients time zone is honored… Any way to make it honor the time zone on the CS instead?

(v11.25.29)

Thank you..

/Rubeck

And while we’re at this Blackout Window thingy….

Why do jobs queue up…

… when this setting has been set?

I may not be the Tesla Plaid in the car park… but something seems off. Is it just me, or?

Something seems off alright!  I’m going to talk to some folks to see if we have a simple explanation, or if we need a case.  I’m wondering if somehow the setting in Control Panel>Job Management to queue conflicting jobs is overriding?

Either way, we need a concrete answer :nerd:

Hi @RubeckDK ,

Currently unless the blackout window is configured on the Commserve level the client time zones will be honored:

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/6611_blackout_window.html

Time Zone Handling

If the time zone of a client differs from the time zone of the CommServe, then the time zone of the client is honored unless the blackout window operation rule is set at the CommServe level. If the blackout window is set at the CommServe level, the time zone of the CommServe level is honored.

No way around that to my knowledge. As for the jobs queueing up with the “Do not submit job” option specified, perhaps there is a conflict with a Job Management option selected? I’d suspect that the “Queue scheduled jobs” may be conflicting with the “Do not submit job” option:

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/6308_queuing_jobs.html

If that option is enabled in Job Management try disabling it and see if the adjusts the behavior as desired. If not I’d certainly recommend opening a support case for more thorough investigation.

Kind regards,

Vance Sicherman

Hi @Mike Struening and @Vsicherman

The time zone handling is what it is…. I was just fishing for a way around this if possible, but I guess it’s not which is Ok.

For the job queueing issue…  Got no queue related options in the Job Management enabled at all. I did check this (and should have mentioned this, ofc) as this was the only thing I could come up with being the issue..

Anyway, I’ll poke around and raise a support case if needed…

Thank you to both of you for your input…. Have a great day.
