Hi Team,

In our infra , We have using a commcell server  with capacity based license.

We are planning to setup a commserve server in our DR infra, Can we use the same license to New DR commserve server or not??

Both commserve servers are in different location

Could you please suggest or share the procedure for this above questions.

Also please share how to get the license and how to apply license to new commserve server

Hello @Adarsh.op

I would not recommend setting up a second environment but instead configure something like Live-sync to get your DR setup:
https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/commserve_livesync_in_windows_environment.html

Kind regards

Hai @Albert Williams

Greetings!!
Thanks for your reply,  We are planning to setup a separate Commserve in DR, not like live sync

We have already 2 commserve server with live-sync happening in DC site

We preparing in DR has separate Commserve , can we use our existing license to DR commserve?

because currently we have 30 days evaluation license only available

please suggest any solution for this above query.

Hi @Adarsh.op ,

No, you cannot use the same license for another CS. Each license file is bonded to a unique CS via Serial and Registration Numbers.

Your proposed approach is effectively creating a secondary Cell, and it will therefore need its own licensing.

As previously advised by my colleague @Albert Williams , the way to go to build a DR site is to configure CS LIveSync, which uses a Active/Passive approach to High Availability synchronizing the CSDB between both Cells - Under this approach you will not need any additional licensing.

Javier
