Hello, Team

I am having this issue when running backup on an oracle database.

The backup runs but when it gets to about 80%, It throws an error and goes into pending state.

What can be done to resolve this?

See error below:

Hello @Mubaraq

This looks like the account (sys) you're using on the GUI to log on to the CDB is not having privilege to perform the backup operation on all the PDB's or the sys password for PDB's are different to the one for CDB's.

https://www.oraexcel.com/database-oracle-12cR1-RMAN-07536
Database: 12c Release 1
Error code: RMAN-07536
Description: command not allowed when connected to a Pluggable Database
Cause: A command was attempted that can only be performed in the root container.
Action: Connect to the root container and retry the command.

You may need to contact your DBA to help fixing this account issue in this case.

Best,
