Commvault Compression Algorithm

Do you have the option to change the compression algorithm for Commvault backups? (BROTLI, ZLIB, or LZMA). Documentation would be a great help. Thanks!

Hi Paul,

There is an additional setting that can change the compression algorithm from LZO to GZIP please see the details for this setting here.

Please allow me to bring to your attention the following: “Note: Changing compression scheme may result in new baseline for existing dedupe storage policies and more data transfer over network.” 

Can I ask the reason you are wanting to change the compression algorithm?

Yeah just like @Shaun Hunt I'm very curious to learn what made you raise this question and why you want to differ from the Commvault standard.
