Good Day.

I have a customer server that is having an issue with a Commvault reinstallation.   The Commvault agent was corrupted.  The recommendation from the Commvault Knowledge base was to uninstall using the Microsoft uninstall tool.  The MS uninstall tool ran successfully but the Commvault reinstallation is still failing.   When we execute the Commvault ContentStore we get “No 11.0 instance is installed on the setup.”  Has anyone experienced this behavior and if so, please point me to documentation that can help resolve this issue.

Thanks.

Sounds like you are trying to do a repair or the install you have is a maintenance release and not a full package. It shouldn’t be looking for an instance on new install.

If the system for any reason does not allow you to re-install force a clean start by deleting:

  • Registry entries:
    • Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CommVault Systems
    • Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GalaxyInstallerFlags
    • Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GalaxyRemoteInstall
  • File System data:
    • <install location>\Commvault

Then re-run the installer 😉
