Basically the title. I have a bunch of HotAdd servers that have the MediaAgent software installed. Do I need to have the MediaAgent software installed? We have IntelliSnap running to back up the VMs on the vSphere
As a bonus question, these HotAdd VMs also have the file system agent installed. How do I uninstall just that software? Or will I need to uninstall Commvault software completely and reinstall Commvault?

If these servers are not being used as MediaAgents or not added to any storage policy, you can safely remove the MediaAgent software from these servers. It will not impact the backups.
To answer your second question, we need FileSystem package for basic communication over cvd. Hence it is not recommended to uninstall the FileSystem software from these servers.
