Question

Does content indexing require a backup to be taken or can it be run\used standalone?

We are trying to only use the content indexing (meta data in documents) feature, not the backups, and I was tasked with setting this up.  When looking into the documentation it looks like a backup is required since the content indexing is done “offline” on the backup.  I’m just looking for confirmation that a backup is required and that there is no other way to use the content indexing feature without a backup.

I tried asking support but they didn’t want to answer and told me to contact my Account Manager who hasn’t replied to any emails or phone calls.  Hoping somebody here can answer this question so we can figure out if we need to find another solution or to go ahead with the install.
