Hi @lborek
In the latest FR36 release, we are still using personal access tokens for authentication.
reference:
https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/essential/personal_access_token_permissions_and_user_roles_for_github.html
We will check this internally and provide an update if there are plans to consider app credentials for GitHub in the future.
Thanks. Let me know if you guys need official future request.
Our usecase is to protect ~10k+ repositories. Personal access token has 5k API limit, so we hit the limit twice during first backup phase - get all repos names. App credentials has 15k API limit as far i know.
Thanks.
@lborek
During our internal discussions, it was noted that if you have a business license, the API limits should be higher.
Currently, there are no plans to use app credentials we only support personal access tokens.
If the API limit is reached, the job will enter a pending state and will resume on the next attempt.
So,we can submit a CMR for future consideration with either of below options
- Automatic handling of API limit reached errors
- Support for app credentials
let me know if you can go ahead submit CMR from your side if not i can raise one internally
provide me with your ccid details for same.
