we have primary and DR servers . archive file generated on primary transferred to DR to apply the changes , after every backup before deleiting it should ensure the archive which are synced with DR

is this happening in the backend , is commvault will only delete the synced logs , how can we make sure

Hi @Ajal

Could you confirm if you are using a Oracle data guard configuration ?

If yes then following the steps documented on the link would ensure the logs are backed up from either on primary or standby based on your requirements

https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/20991_specifying_servers_that_run_backups_in_oracle_data_guard_configuration.html

In case of data guard, if the logs are not shipped rman will throw a warning and will not delete the logs

RMAN-08137: WARNING: archived log not deleted, needed for standby or upstream capture process.

Regards.

@Gowri Shankar

do we need to do to any configuration and script for this or will it automatically detect dataguard config and applies it ?

RMAN-08137: WARNING: archived log not deleted, needed for standby or upstream capture process

is there anyway we can see the configuration and scripts which used by commvault to backup oracle
