Hi,

Trying to install Media agent using Commcell browser and getting the following error, installation goes till 90% and then stops with below error message.

 

Received failed message for job [79], phase [Install Client].
 

Any solution why?

Hmm if the job is getting to 90% and then failing, I believe at that point the CommServe is waiting for the Media Agent to start services and communicate back. Seems like the communication may not be working - either DNS failure on the Media Agent or you have a firewall blocking ports between the Media Agent and CommServe. At least port 8403 should be open bi-directionally (taking advantage of auto network tunnel).

You might get a clearer picture if you find and open cvd.log on the server you are installing the Media Agent on - default location is C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\Log Files\

It could be something else, but that is where I would start on this one. Otherwise distributesoftware.log on the CommServe could hold more information.

Apart form above suggestion given by Damian, for push installation we need other 3 ports too to be opened. 

133, 135 and 445, can you check if these ports are opened ?

Also, can you try to install agent locally on machine and suggest if you are facing same issue.

If not we can then check further
