Doing some work around DR and I have a quick question, I created some backups and stored this on a data domain virtual edition. Whether this is relative not sure.?

The data domain virtual edition has had retention lock set which essentially creates a copy of the mtree where the data is stored. We as part of testing have deleted the backups from Commvault and data aging has been run so the backups are no longer available. The retention lock feature allows me to run a command to restore the data back to the original location on the Mtree.

The question is simple can I recover the data from the Data Domain and re-catalog the backups into Commvault?

I gave up using Datadomain’s devices years ago, so I may be obsolete on that topic, but have you used and configured it as a VTL or as a disk device in Commvault ?
