It is possible to restore a Mysql database on the same server with a different name.

Not entirely sure if this is what you are asking, but I believe that in order to restore a database to the original server without overwriting the original database:
- You need to configure an additional Instance in MySQL, and
- Configure this new instance in Commvault, and
- Start a restore of the database and point to the new MySQL instance.
