Hello everyone,

I’m backing up an Oracle database in Linux, and every time a backup of this database runs I received the Error below:

Error Code: [18:183]
Description: Failed with Oracle DB/RMAN error [RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 10 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 11 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 14 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 15 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 16 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 17 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 18 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 19 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 20 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 21 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 33 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 34 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 35 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 36 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 37 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 38 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 40 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 41 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 43 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 44 is in backup mode RMAN-06554: WARNING: file 45 is in backup mode RM

Is there something I can do in Commvault side? If no, what could I say to the DBA to help me out fix this error and get the backup working without errors?

Hi @antonio

The DBA might have placed the DB in backup mode and to perform a online backup we dont need to db to be in backup mode.

The DBA needs to verify if there is any other backup running outside commvault & end the backup mode.

Provide the following article so the DBA could verify and end the backup mode

Let us know in case of any other questions.

Hello @Gowri Shankar

I will ask the DBA to check this, as soon as I have his answer, I’ll come back here.

Thanks.
