By default there is no exclusion in place, this has to be placed manually in global filters, plans or more granular levels such as the subclient. I would check those configurations.

If no exclusions are in place then there could be a filesystem rights issue during backup.

If you look at the backup job, do you see failed items? Or do you see failed items in the filescan log?

Apparrently all these folders are excluded automatically from Windows OS included the temp folder !

I have checked my machine and can confirm I partially have the same exclusions in the registry and TEMP is one of them. Interestingly enough, when checking some systems being backed up, they do have data backed up from c:\temp. Not convinced that this registry key is used for backups with Commvault.

Yes exactly the same here, I have other machines with the same registry settings but I can restore all files from Temp folder. Very Strange. 

Can you provide filescan.log from the client, this should shed some light on the matter. If not we need to take a look at clbackup.log
