HI @Mike Struening i have got the same issue the “initrd” file has occupied 1.7GB of space in /tmp -  can you help me knowing why it is created for certain servers alone when the backups fail or completed with errors, and not on other clients which are completing fine?

/cvcreateinitrd.sh initrd.img /var/log/commvault/Log_Files/bootcd.log /opt/commvault/iDataAgent/systemrecovery/bootimage Instance001' failed + commvault

@Ashok Somasundaram , I moved this into its own thread for better tracking.

Let me reach out to some of our Unix folks to explain better than I could!

Thankyou @Mike Struening appreciate your support..

Hi @Ashok Somasundaram,

The backup job utilizes /tmp when 1-touch backup is enabled.

During the system state backup we capture the server specific information and use /tmp as a staging area before its it moved into the backup. The file that are created during the backup are removed if the job completes without any errors.

HI @Gowri Shankar thankyou for your explanation. We have got the job completed with errors, from the logs we could see the log states and refers some disks as multipath, but is it not an external one. Is there anything i am missing out?

HI @Gowri Shankar can you please assist on this?

Hi @Ashok Somasundaram

From the output it looks like a vendor specific multipathing device, which is not supported.

Gowri Shankar

HI @Gowri Shankar,

thankyou for your feedback. And, yes i am aware that external multipath is not supported. However, the client was already backing up fine with one touch enabled. And recently we have got this issue and errors, after which we tried to disable the one touch for a while and reenabled the one touch and monitored it went fine and completing good now. Isn't strange?

Hi @Ashok Somasundaram ,

Thank you for the update. Glad to know that the backup is completing without any errors.

During System state backup phase, we collect crucial system information which is required to rebuild the server while performing a recovery. In case if  we run into any errors while collecting / running any of the OS commands then the job completes with errors.

Regards,

Gowri Shankar
