Assuming you’re talking about these features?

Enabling WORM in Commvault stops backup admins from deleting data.
Enabling WORM on the Storage stops storage admins from deleting data.

For true immutability of third-party storage, you need to enable WORM on BOTH.

Thanks,
Scott

Hello @Scott Moseman ,

This was a quick / to the point answer :)

So, for WORM on Storage, does actually prevent storage admins from deleting LUN’s, even aggregates from storage with Commvault Storage repository on it?

I recommend contacting your storage vendor to verify the extent of their storage locks.

Thanks,

@Nik Mistriotis it depends on the storage vendor and storage solution. most of them have some form of mitigation built-in to prevent data from being deleted immediately and there are also solutions who take it to the next step which actually prevent the admin from deleting data by adding an approval flow. You were referring to aggregates so I assume you use NetApp arrays, because in that case you should have a look at ONTAP 9.10.1 which delivers ransomware protection.

Hello again @Scott Moseman  and @Onno van den Berg

In latest version 11.32, when try to enable WORM storage lock from Command Center, informed you to Make sure the storage vendor supports WORM .

Is any list with these supported vendors?

Also, in case of a Disk Storage in a Windows Server as local or network share, WORM Storage supported?

Thank you in advance,
Nikos
