Hi,

Our Teams backup often completes with one or more errors. Investigation showed that these errors concerns other items then Files, Posts and Wikis, in other words items that are not supported for backup. Is there a possibility to mark a Teams job just as “Completed”, if only items are not backed up that are not supported for backup?

Thanks!

Hey @iConsultant !  Definitely sounds interesting.  What are you seeing in CVTeamsBackup.log for these jobs for the completed with errors feedback?

Hi @Mike Struening,

We get errors that for us are not very helpful, like:

BackupConversationItem - Failed to populate hosted content for conversation item [1584517930308].

PerformWebRequest - Web Exception generated [400] [BadRequest] [BadRequest] [Parameter 'DeltaToken' not supported for this request.]

3492  1     05/18 16:09:50 3105185 ### GetHostedContentData - Error in performing in memory web request [https://graph.microsoft.com/beta/teams/ab5297c9-d499-4d71-9139-08c70f3f1e24/channels/19:51d1505a526447c4988aaf25dcef56e1@thread.skype/messages

We did testing then and discovered that all Teams that were “Successful with warnings” (Failed to backup few items) had a Task, a One Note file or something else. Supported items are Files, Posts and Wikis.

It’s not a big issue at all but a nice to have if such a job would just be able to suppress error messages concerning items that are not supported.

Thanks

Agreed, 100%!

Talking it over with some of the team here it was suggested that we get a support case opened to have this addressed.

Can you create a support case and send me the case number to track?

Looks like we have an answer:

1) Upgrade access node to 11.22.32 version from this download link:
https://cloud.commvault.com/webconsole/softwarestore/store.do#!/130/657/20125

2) Follow the steps outlined in this KB article to use protected API
https://kb.commvault.com/article/67692

I’ll keep this open a bit until you can confirm all works as expected.

Adding full details as we have a solution:

Development have now released the patches required for the issue on backup of "Hosted Content" from Teams.

Please perform following steps and let us know the status,

1) Upgrade access node to 11.22.32 version from this download link:
https://cloud.commvault.com/webconsole/softwarestore/store.do#!/130/657/20125

2) Follow the steps outlined in this KB article to use protected API
https://kb.commvault.com/article/67692

If you have any doubt on first step in above article for Request access to protected APIs in Microsoft Graph, please refer following answers,

1) Any tenant user id who will be monitoring the tenant. Either yourself or multiple users that monitor your tenant can be added
2) Your email address
3) Yes
4) Your name
5) The App names you have added on the Teams agent in Command Center
6) The App Ids you have added to the Teams agent in Command Center
7) The app is used for backup and recovery of MS Teams
8) The Commvault applications are accepted as a vital extension of the protection native to O365 applications it is necessary to have read access to all messages in the tenant. This will provide the functionality such as point-in-time recovery, granular restores, and long-term retention
9) It is obvious to any admin installing this app that it will make a copy of Microsoft Teams messages.
10) Your tenant Id from Azure the app is located in
11) Usually this is Yes. Unless you are doing this on behalf of another customer in which case they have to complete this form
