For some reason, there’s a setting that I cannot locate to disable Automatic Maintenance Release Updates. I know this happens because when I login I get an Information dialog box that says, “Commserve is at version (11.28.56) and Commcell console is running on version (11.28.44). You must install the latest updates on this client to use it effectively.” Does anybody know where this is located?

Hi All ,Currently there is a warning about pkexec described in https://isc.sans.edu/diary/rss/28272.I was able to validate PKEXEC tool existence as SUID binary on hyperscale nodes . This seems to be OS level application and not used by commvault software .I believe a simple chmod of this executable is enough to prevent the exploit of being used (chmod 0755 /usr/bin/pkexec)Is there any action item on Commvault to remediate this or this needs to be addressed by customer by applying OS patches ?
I’m on v11 SP16 and have inherited a system from someone who is no longer available. I am not incredibly well versed in CommVault, so forgive any wrong explanations/terminology if I do not describe this well. Background:We have several Clients that have been “disabled for backup” at various levels (some at the client level, at the subclient level, or both), probably due to retiring of the underlying server (working on this info), but some clients are still backing up some things (like the filesystem or a database) and other items like a different database on the same server are disabled for backup. The jobs for these “deactivated for backup” *should* have aged off due to how old they are. Some have been written to tape, others have not (but still years old, way past retention). I know I can “release the license” on the client and delete it in some cases, which will remove the jobs, but i don’t necessarily want to do that in call cases.It appears some “old decommed” subclients have

I downloaded the version 11 Download manager 22.9 MB, I go to install it and commvault install is blocked on my client so I have to get larger install package.I am on version 11.25.32, is there another install package that is smaller than 2gb / 11.25.36 I know before the install packages were 300MB.

is there any way to reconfigure a deleted file system core and agent that is configured before?i deleted them since i thought that we dont need to backup the FS and retain the SQL only.i tried update and repair software but it was still not appearing. Can you please help us with getting some clarification on the CVE-2021-44228. Looks like CVE-2021-44228 also impacts the Log4j 1.x Since we still have /opt/commvault/Base64/DbJars/log4j-1.2.16.jar, we are being told by our Cyber team that according to CVE-2021-44228 on the https://logging.apache.org/log4j/2.x/security.html Below is the snippet from logging.apache.org link aboveLog4j 1.x mitigationLog4j 1.x does not have Lookups so the risk is lower. Applications using Log4j 1.x are only vulnerable to this attack when they use JNDI in their configuration. A separate CVE (CVE-2021-4104) has been filed for this vulnerability. To mitigate: Audit your logging configuration to ensure it has no JMSAppender configured. Log4j 1.x configurations without JMSAppender are not impacted by this vulnerability. Does commvault use JNDI with Log4j 1.x ?
