Exchange Online throttling.

Hello!
Is there anything new going on with Microsoft and throttling?
We are on 11.32.23 and we are getting the throttling message on individuals’ mail boxes.

Been seeing

Throttling from Office 365. Failed to process mailbox due to [EWS Error in enumeratings folders. Reason: Too many concurrent connections opened., Cannot open mailbox

on several Exchange Online jobs lately.

We have been following this:
Best Practices for Exchange Online (commvault.com)

We are using 10 streams on all our customers’ Exchange online backup config.
Did Microsoft bandwidth become more restricted?

I will lower one customer to 7 streams now, just to see what happens.
But please let me know if there are any known issues or changes done on MS side.

As per latest update on below KB article

upgrading to latest MR on FR32 will help to controll the “Too many concurrent connections opened” throttling error for group mailbox and user mailbox who is owner list where error is mostly seen
there is two hotfixes included to handle this situation from commvault side.

please try.

Edit: just got information - We are also seeing the throttling issue on exhcange online clients in another commserver environment running on 11.32.35.. I think it is best to create a ticket.

OK, before we saw this only on group mailboxes and Commvault told us we had to install 11.32.29 on the MS365 access nodes to rectify it.
(So now the commserve is 11.32.23 and MS365 access nodes are 11.32.29.)

This is not group mailboxes, these are users’ mailboxes where we are seeing it now.

If I understand you correctly now, we need to upgrade the Commserve and access nodes to 11.32.31?

below are two hot fixes I referred
FR32.31 SP32-HotFix-9243
FR32.28  SP32-HotFix-9058

latest available MR is FR32.35 so it should be covered.

few things to consider over all backup health from Overview section for exchange online app and from 
job history 3 consecutive job if it is failing for same group mailbox or user mailbox with throttling error , yes then please raise case other wise it should be backedup fine with incremental jobs

ews throttling is default behaviour from Microsoft , it can be avoided but 100 percent cannot be controlled.

if it is failing for too many mailboxes even after hot fixes inplace then try the steps in kb article to disable throttling
