Hi everyone,

how is Kubernetes backup licensed within Commvault (not Metallic)? I found nothing in the Licensing Program Guide. I know VSA is used, so I assume it’s a per Container license. Can anyone provide an example setup and its related license requirements.

Thanks.

Hi @Ingo Maus !

Kubernetes is licensed per vm.

Are you looking to see someone who currently has it set up and how the licensing is applied?

This is what I got from Commvault and it is what I needed at this point:

Kubernetes is licensed via the VM license, 1x per APP, NOT per container. The so-called POD is secured.

Example:

Customer has 100 apps with 100 containers = 10 x CV-BKRC-VM10.
Customer has 500 apps with 50,000 containers = 50 x CV-BKRC-VM10

One license is consumed per individual Kubernetes App including all associated PVC’s OR an individually selected PVC

Hello,

We are asked to setup Kubernetes backup with Commvault 11.28 (IntelliSnap).
We do have a license that includes Virtual Machines (see attached screenshot), but isn’t it only for VMware virtual machines ?
How can I make sure that my license is adequate for that ?
is there anything I can check ?

Thanks in advance for your support.
