Anyone have setup a lab Commserve on a virtual box VM. Mine has a very high cpu and memory usage despite no backups running.

I wonder if you guys have setup one before and was able to tweak so it does not consume a lot of cpu and memory even when its idle

This is Commvault v11.32 with the latest hotfix pack already.

This is running Server 2019 with SQL server 2019 as the SQL backend for Commvault

running this on a makeshift virtual box VM

Thanks for any tips and tricks you can provide

@mach123

What are the specs of the VM? Does it meet our system requirements? (and the requirements for each component you have installed on it… e.g. is it a Commserve + Media Agent?)

CS H/W Requirements are here: https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/hardware_specifications_for_commserve_server_01.html

MA H/W Requirements are here: https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/hardware_specifications_for_mediaagents.html

We have a couple of regkeys we can utilise to prevent certain processes from consuming cpu/memory but it might negatively impact the software..

Any particular process consuming the most resources?

Also make sure SQL 2019 is patched.

Chris
