Hi All

Having issue to install agent on window server 2008 R2.Installation failed with this error.Anyone experience this issue?how to solve it.Thank you

Hello,

Some questions for you first please:

  • Has this client ever had Commvault installed on it before?
  • Is there any chance of a previous failed installation?
  • How was the installation package created/downloaded?
  • Are there any pending Windows Updates to be installed?

Just taking a look at the error, it seems a few customers had this issue relating to .net. The resolution was to clean-up the failed install and fix the .net issue with the following:

Remove: C:\ProgramData\Commvault

Remove: C:\Program Files\Commvault

Remove reg key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\CommVault Systems

Remove reg key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\GalaxyInstallerFlags

 

And then rename this folder:

 

C:\program data\microsoft\crypto\RSA\S-1-5-18 to C:\program data\microsoft\crypto\RSA\S-1-5-18_OLD or something else. This will force .net to generate new security keys and the install should continue. - this is a solution found on the MS forums that solved a lot of these cases.

  • Is there any chance of a previous failed installation? Few installation given me same error
  • How was the installation package created/downloaded? Downloaded to local machine from share drive
  • Are there any pending Windows Updates to be installed? No pending update

Any other software effected if rename this folder.This server is apllication server n in production
