Is there a way to define Plans in a workflow?

I’m looking for anyway to have new clients installed to be directed to use X plan. Whether that be in a workflow, client group, or other.

Automate backup of selected VMs from a VMGroup using RESTAPI

Hello All We take adhoc backups every day for patching activities and we search for each and every client in Command Center and trigger incremental backups for those clients(more than 100 every day). Is there a way that we can trigger the backup for these clients using RESTAPI. Foreach through these clients and trigger the incremental backup. I was able to authenticate and generate the authentication token but cannot trigger the backups for those clients. Its my first time with RESTAPIs. Would be grateful if someone can point in the right direction. I am using PoweShell. Thanks

Reports for Schedule Policies

I am trying to find out if there is a report that I can run for each of my Schedule Policies.  Currently when checking backups from the night before I go into Schedule Policy, go to each of our policies and view jobs.  I can then verify if it went to tape or even look deeper to see what files were backed up.  Is there a report that I could run each night so in the morning I just have reports for each one that I can easily view pretty much the same info of all the Subclients under each policy and the stats for the previous nights backup?  I realize I may have to dig into creating my own reports, which I am still figuring out.  Thank you for any help in pointing me in the right direction.

REST API Gaps Collection Point?

What’s the proper way to inform Dev of a REST API call I’d like them to implement? Are CMRs the way to go, or is there a different channel? The reason I hope for a different channel is that my former TAM assured me Dev wants to know what REST API calls we want/need since they’re trying to wean us from calling SQL database tables directly, so I hope they’re showing their support for with with a specific way of asking. (If you’re wondering: I want ways to list subclients that, for example, are of a specific agent type. For that matter, I want a REST API call to show me the agent types in use in a CommCell. Both of these are in support of being to allow users to ask about backups of agent types they support.)

API get Full Schedules

Hello everyone, Is it possible to get Full Schedules via API call? i am able to get the schedules and sub tasks inside the schedule but i could not find a way to differentiate schedules from Full, vs Incremental vs Full Synthetic?  Granted Full Synthetic has a display name so it lets you differentiate from Full and incremental but Full backup and incremental does not have any name in schedules.is there any other property that i can key off?       Thank you!

Schedule FSRestoreValidation Workflow

REST API and job queuing

Hello everyone,Recently, we started testing REST APIs with our Commvault test environment. The tests were successful with less than 5 subclients running with the REST API. However, as soon as I increase the load to 50, 100 or 200 simultaneous subscribers, I notice that the CommServ is very slow to take the jobs into account. Subclient jobs appear 6 by 6 and it takes me 15min to handle 100jobs by the CommServ.I have done a lot of research but I have not found anything in the Commvault documentation that could lead to this anomaly.Has anyone using the REST API on their Commvault environment ever noticed this type of behavior?For information: Commserv in version 11.26.18Python script to call the REST API

is there a way to get a backup job report that has the backup size using powershell commands ?

Is there a way to create a roport using powershell that includes the backup size. I've tried pulling information but all I see is application size, size on disk etc.  I need to do this for physical and virtual machines.

Workflow to resubmit failed job with particular failure reason

Hi CVcommunity, I do have a question and maybe some of you could point to what first steps should be taken to perform the following: We have backup jobs tha are failing with error codes such as ‘Waiting for services to come online’, ‘Error encountered when closing virtual device. Please see SQL server vdi.log for more details’ and etc. - Most of those jobs usually are fixed by simply resubmitting the job or resubmitting it after restarting client services….Is there an option that Commcell could run a workflow itself when job fails with such failure reason?Workflow should restart client services and resubmit the job.

Custom Web Report

Hello good,We are configuring some reports from the Web report, we have detected that two cases occur when naming the report.#1 - The name of the pdf file that is sent by mail is the sum of the "Report custom name" field + the "Name" field#2 - The name of the file that we save in a network path is saved only with the name of the "Report custom name" field.We are wondering if it is possible in case #2 to save the pdf in the network path with the same name as case #1 explained above.Is there any way to be able to do it?Thank you,All the best.

Azure Immutable Blob Library - WORM applied without warning through workflow

Hi,I have another trouble with the Azure immutable blob library. I started a recommended workflow “ Enable WORM on Cloud Storage”. Because we have not the “IAM VM Role Assignment” authentication method(we have Access key), the workflow was not completed. But it set “WORM” option on the cloud copy without a warning. Now there are some “Index server backups” which will not expire. They cannot be deleted (WORM copy) and block a whole baseline in the cloud. Maybe I have to open a support ticket for it ? Because I had already similar problems with these Index server backups, maybe it would be better to save these backups in another “no WORM” storage policy ? (I guess restore of data could be possible without these index backups too - with some performance penalties necessary for rebuild of indexes (?))This is only a test storage policy with one client VM, but the customer plans to place  about 150TB to cloud. So “locked” data in the cloud could be costly.FYI see content of all relevant SP c

Disable backup activity for VM for a specifc subclient

I have a situation here, after migration from 11.28.72 to 11.32.45, VM which were added using VM rules using VM tags appeared in different subclient of a Vcenter virtual server and it is impacting SLA since now the VM tag issue is resolved and backup in running under one subclient. Now i need to disable backup activity for the client for other subclient except the original subclientcurrently the VM is appearing in only ine subclient of the vcenter virtual server which is JPAWP, and the VM is not available or not showing under any other subclient. But when we check individual VM , it shows multiple backupset/subclient and it is impacting the SLA. Now i need to disable the backup activity for the VM, for specifc backupset/subclient. Do not disable backup activity on client level because the VM is curently backing up in its original subclient.Now i need to disable backup activity for the VM for all the subclient except the orignal subclient which is JPAWP here.I am creating workflow to ac

Load Balance Index Servers: Precautions, impact to running

When running the Load Balance Index Servers workflow, are there any precautions to take into consideration? Should any of the services on the main CommCell be suspended?  Should this be done when there is a window where there are no jobs running? What is the best practice before running this workflow?

Schedule Policy Randomization?

Commvault 11.20.   We’ve been on Commvault for a few years, but our legacy backup product was Tivoli Storage Manager/Spectrum Protect.     In TSM, there was a concept called scheduling randomization which enabled you to assign many clients to one schedule, and you could specify a period in which the various clients would begin their backup operation pseudo-randomly. (Ex. Schedule runs at 22:00. The period is set to 1 hour.  There are 10 clients in the schedule.  The 10 clients start their backup operation at various times in the period between 22:00 and 23:00)  This enabled you to manage fewer schedules, while spreading backup and client infrastructure resource utilization across a window.  I can’t find any similar concept with Commvault, but I’d figure I’d ask the community.  Thanks!mikeymac

Hi I would like to stop services through workflow ; how do i confirm that all the services are stopped what does timeout 60 indicate? My workflow gets stuck at this step when i tried to stop services using :GxAdmin.exe -consoleMode -stopsvcgrp All -stop, with “waiting for response from workflow”

Anyone integrating Domino 12 backup with the Commvault REST API?

Hi,We need to use HCL Domino 12 for security updates.  But the Commvault Backup agent for Domino does not support HCL Domino 12.HCL Domino 12 has a new backup integration feature, we plan to leverage this and use the Commvault via REST or Powershell to integrate with Commvault backup.Has anyone experience with integrating with Commvault using the REST API?Is there a product manager I can contact?Would love to here from the community! Lars

Rest API: No SAP Hana Logbackup at Jobs Endpoint

I am using a POST against the /Jobs endpoint to get all backup results. It’s filtered by JobType 4,5 and 14.Now i checked my SAP HANA Backups and realized that there are no LogBackups but i can see them when i’m using the job history in comcell console.Are there any more job types i should use in my filter to get all types of backups and restores?

SIMCallWrapper issues with parameter -ConnectionInfo

Hi All, I’m working on a decoupled image template (FR20) that we want to register using SIMCallWrapper after deployment using a script.In this scenario, The comms to the CS must go via a Network Gateway Proxy.Whenever we use the “-ConnectionInfo” parameter with SIMCallWrapper, We get error output: “Invalid arguments received”.Using the same format as documentation: [-ConnectionInfo GatewayHostname:Port].Ref: Registering the Client Using the Command Line (commvault.com)See below example:SIMCallWrapper.exe -OpType 1000 -CSHost CSHOSTNAME -CSNAME CSNAME -clientName CLIENTNAME -ClientHostName CLIENTHOSTNAME -authcode AUTHCODE -overwriteClientInfo -output C:\install\install.xml -ConnectionInfo PROXYHOSTNAME:8403I have managed to work around this issue by manually adding a rule to communicate to the CS via Proxy to the FwConfigLocal file, then removing “-ConnectionInfo” parameter from the SIMCallWrapper command to register the Client successfully. Wondering if anyone has also seen this with
