Hi Everyone, Just writing in to check if we have any documents related to Vmware Vsan NFS file shares ( it is only released in vsphere 7 update 2) ? Am i right to say it does not really matters since we can backup directly via NFS protocol?https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/essential/119323_nas_file_servers.html

I have been reading through the documentation and it states that a QR code can be used to setup the authenticator app however upon initial login it sends an email with the secret key instead. We’re currently on 11.24 and I saw another post that mentioned that this is available in 11.25? Can anyone confirm that they receive a QR code on the first login after MFA is enabled? We use separate admin accounts and want to avoid giving a mailbox to these accounts… would be nice to know if the authenticator app could be configured without having an email associated.
Hello everyone,I have a very slow throughput with a specific database, the average restore throughtput is 60gb/hr, with a size of 1.5tb, this restore is taking 25 hours to complete. Our SAP database has 8tb and take 20 hours.I already changed the VDI to 2000 and nothing. How can i identify the problem with this database?
A client with both File and SQL backup activated: Will commvault automatically skip SQL data like mdf, ldf in the File backup? Thanks
Hi Guys,I have some questions about Cloudian S3 storage.Does Commvault fully support Cloudian S3 storage? If so, is ‘object lock’ functionality also supported?I cannot find any information about it in the BOL.Rgds,Kamil
Hi Community, I’m facing an issue, and maybe some of you already experienced it. We had a client associated to a storage policy, which was working fine, we added a new MA and created a storage policy with this new MA. After that, we wanted to associate the client to the newly created storage policy in order to use the new MA. After changing the storage policy, we faced an issue with backups, indexing wasn’t working properly, which we fixed by changing the index server of the backupset of the client from the old MA to the new one, and now we are facing an issue where we cannot restore anymore (Below a screenshot). Please note that we restarted all services for all Commserve, old MA, new MA.In the DATA RECOVERY JOBS summary, we have a CommServe Management jobs with the storage policy index as a client, stating that there is no communication between the 2 MA. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Regards.
Hi, we currently have a customer running HyperScale 1.5 Reference Architecture on SuperMicro hardware. They report that the OS disks are currently configured in RAID0. (details are already requested) They found out the hard way, and would like to change it to RAID1. Can anyone tell me what the (default) config options for the OS disks are? Hardware RAID, Software RAID, RAID1, RAID0? And also, what options would we have if we would like to reconfigure that to RAID1? Would it require a reinstall (I believe we can keep the Storage Pool data)? Or can we manually reconfigure to (software) RAID1, and is that supported? Thanks in advance!
Hi all, we are looking into our backup strategy and investigating few scenarios of backend storage. Right now we are considering object storage via S3 protocol and file storage (JBOD) over NFS protocol. The data which will be send there is on-prem filesystems, databases, VM’s etc. Total capacity - over 10 PB.Currently we tested some object storage over S3 protocol but we faced issues with data reclamation (garbage collection for expired objects taking way too long and capacity reclaimed wait time takes over month or few). Can you share your experience with back-end storage, what challenges you faced or how you solved my mentioned issues, also, what advantages you see comparing S3 & NFS protocols for backups. All feedback is very appreciated. Thanks!
Commvault 11.20. We’ve been on Commvault for a few years, but our legacy backup product was Tivoli Storage Manager/Spectrum Protect. In TSM, there was a concept called scheduling randomization which enabled you to assign many clients to one schedule, and you could specify a period in which the various clients would begin their backup operation pseudo-randomly. (Ex. Schedule runs at 22:00. The period is set to 1 hour. There are 10 clients in the schedule. The 10 clients start their backup operation at various times in the period between 22:00 and 23:00) This enabled you to manage fewer schedules, while spreading backup and client infrastructure resource utilization across a window. I can’t find any similar concept with Commvault, but I’d figure I’d ask the community. Thanks!mikeymac
