Hi Guys,

I have some questions about Cloudian S3 storage.

  1. Does Commvault fully support Cloudian S3 storage?
  2. If so, is ‘object lock’ functionality also supported?

I cannot find any information about it in the BOL.

Rgds,

Kamil

Hi Kamil,

It depends on the situation. For long term retention I would say no, but for short term retention like for example 30 days it is definitely possible. See: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/9251_configuring_worm_storage_mode_on_cloud_storage.html

But do mind it will be less efficient because it will seal the DDB following the configured retention.

Hi @Kamil W

Yes, Commvault support Cloudian Hyperstore ( we are a big user as well) and they also support object lock see also: https://cloudian.com/commvault/

Hi @Onno van den Berg ,

Thank you for your reply. I’ve got one more question. What about deduplication? Can we use Commvault Dedup and Cloudian Hyperstore with object lock enabled?

Rgds,

Kamil

IMPORTANT NOTE: At the time this document was created, Commvault does not support storing deduplicated data on a Cloud Library for which WORM with object.

The document was created in 2019. Do you know if there is any update of this whitepaper?
