Hi Support Team, We are running backups daily, weekly and monthly to disk library. Now we are going to take secondary copy in to tape with three tape drives. So, The requirement is Weekly Full Backup for Database Servers and Monthly Backup for File server and application servers. Weekly backups need to take tape like First Week backup for week-1 Tape, Second Week backup for week-2 tape, Third week backup for week-3 tape, Fourth week backup for week-4 tape and Fifth week backup for week-5 Tape.Monthly backups need to take dedicated Monthly tape. Also Two tape drive for dedicated to backup and another one for restore purpose. Could you please help us how to achieve and its possible. Thanks Regards,ManiD

Hello all,I am trying to find some specific guidelines for Block and Chunk settings when related to Cloud Storage. The information I have found is generally related to Disk and Tape Media.I have been reviewing an environment that uses Chunk settings of either ‘Application setting’ for Primary Copy and a mixture of ‘Application copy’ and 4096 for secondary copies.Block size has been set to 1024 and in other cases set to ‘use media type setting’.I am wondering what the best practices for these settings are and if any of these user set settings are overridden?
Owing to issues with network and Cloud we are having to use Tape Media as 2ary storage (offline). I would like to have 3 media pools: Daily, Monthly and Annual. Hi all,it's always exciting to start with something new. This year we start with deploying new disk library. In our scenario, we have 2 disk libraries (2 storage arrays), whose secondary copy policy is copied to each other. There are two options - either migrate all data from old storage arrays/storage libraries to new ones or just deploy two new disk storage libraries without worries about old backed up data (which is unlikely). Then, how to physically migrate data from old storage array to the new one? What keep in mind when deploying new storage library:with new storage library it has to be create new deduplication database I will be more than happy to see your experience and once done I will share our knowledge as well

Hi looking for some advice on Backing up Nutanix files.Nutanix ver 5.20.230 TB of capacityCommvault hyperscale 3 node cluster10 GB ethernet connectivity. CIFS And NFS enabled. Documentation states the backups run through Access nodes and at aminimum 1 access node per protocol. Is there any integration with intellisnap for Nutanix files? I did not see this covered in the documentation, but maybe not looking in the right place.
I do several 10-20TB synthetic full jobs each week which are then aux copied off to tape on a global tape copy policy with a single stream (one LTO drive) with multiplexing enabled.I noticed that under the advanced settings on the synthetic full job the “Use Multiple Streams” option is NOT selected.What I think this means is that each 10-20TB synthetic full backup gets written to disk as a single stream which means it gets aux copied to tape as a single stream.If so am I right in thinking I want to enable this setting so the synthetic full jobs get written as multiple streams as this means they’ll get aux copied as multiple streams?I’m going to be moving the DDB to a new NVMe volume which seems a good time to review things.We’re on 11.20.73.Thanks in advance.
Hi,I would like to ask on how we can perform recovery of data from our offsite copy. We have CVfailover setup in our environment below are the options we need to perform. From Commcell console in Site A, How to recovery our data form offsite copy which is in a secondary storage of site B? When commserv in Site A went unavailable and the commserv server in site B become active after successful CVfailover. From commcell in Site B, how to recovery our data from primary and secondary storage in site A? and how to recovery our data from secondary storage in Site B when commcell servers and storage arrays in Site A a is also unavailable?Refer to the attached photo for the commcell environment. Hey all We are creating a secondary copy and writing to a combined tier library. When we create this, do we need 1 bucket or 2? I only created 1 bucket and specified the combined tiers. Does an additional bucket get created - or a different folder within the bucket created and that gets changed to Glacier?We are planning on using S3-IA/Glacier for the 2nd copy.I guess I just want more specifics on what exactly happens in this process. Hi Community - We have a circa 2PB Cloudlin currently writing to AWS S3. Our customer is asking if we can migrate this data into Azure. Has anyone out had experience of the best way to accomplish this - I am thinking doing this using AUX copies is going to take rather a long time to copy 2 PB!!
Hello,after upgrading from V11FR20 to V11FR24 I noticed a new schedule policy named “System Created DDB Space Reclamation schedule policy” which was disabled by default.I basically know what the Space Reclamation functionality is about, and the policy has all our deduplication engines assigned. But when initializing this policy it finished in less than a quarter of an hour and from the logs only one dedup engine was processed. Another manual start just gives below error message. Can anybody explain to me what this schedule policy is about and how it is supposed to work?
Hello, As shown below, we would like to implement the following solution:Snapshots on DC1 are taken in the Hot Tier of NetApp systems (where the Production data reside) Snapshots are then replicated using Snapmirror DR software to another NetApp system (AFF400 Cluster) located in the remote datacentre DC2 Snapshots of DC1 are then replicated using Snapvault software to another NetApp system (FAS8300 Cluster) located in the same datacentre Snapshots of DC2 are then replicated using Snapvault software to another NetApp system (FAS8300 Cluster) located in the same datacentre Question is concerning point 4: with Intellisnap can we manage the snapvault of “MIRRORED” snapshots? Hi Team, We currently have quite a large Secondary Copy of data, writing to object-based storage and I am just reviewing its health status (note - this is NOT cold storage in any way).At the moment it looks pretty good, but a while ago I seem to remember it was Commvault’s recommendation to periodically seal these large DDB’s. I believe this was in order to maintain healthy DDB performance.Does anyone know if this still applies? The reason I’m asking, is that I so far haven’t seen that recommendation in the documentation, but it is possible it is squirreled away somewhere. To help assist there is a summary here (approx):- 2 PartitionsSize of DDB 950 GB (each).Unique Blocks 500 millionQ&I 3 days 1200Total Application Size 15 PB (yes, PB)Total Data Size on Disk 550 TBDedupe Savings 96.5%Infinite retention (critical data needed for longterm and potential legal needs). Hello, We have an environment that was originally set up with Windows media agents, but as it has grown we have added some Linux media agents as Data Movers. CommVault will let me share the mountpaths with these Linux media agents but it will not let me run a “move mountpath” from a connected CIFS UNC path to a locally-mounted NFS volume on a Linux media agent, so it concerned me that it would let me share them with a Linux media agent if it was mounted as a local path. That being said, I was wondering if anyone else is successfully accessing mountpaths over SMB/CIFs using Linux media agents? (SMB path mounted to local directories on the Linux media agents and accessed/shared-to as local paths on the Linux servers, i.e. \\sancifsservername\mysharename via network path on Windows servers, and mounted to local directory as local device on Linux servers.)Thanks all!Pat
We want to use space on an SSD for a new DDB (horizontal scaling) and the old DDB is not being used. It only has jobs with long term retention as it was used for file archiving(onepass). The onepass jobs are not active anymore. Data only needs to be restored. If Commvault doesnt need the DDB for restores, how can I get rid of the DDB as we dont have any backups running.Sealing could be an option. However BOL mentions:The sealed DDB is automatically deleted only after all the jobs (with their data block signatures stored on the DDB) are aged or deleted and the corresponding volumes are deleted from the disk.So the DDB is required for purposes other than the backup. https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=12591.htmFor now we will be moving the partition to a different drive.
