was anyone be able to test minio s3 as cloudstorage
Hey
MinIO is not listed under the supported S3 Compatible cloud storage vendors from our documentation:
https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/9237_supported_cloud_storage_s3_compatible_object_storage_vendors.html
However there are steps available to them to become certified here:
https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/9242_verifying_cloud_storage_product_compatibility_with_commvault.html
Cheers,
Jase
Is there a way to backup minio into CV? The only client setup I see is Amazon S3.
I don’t see any agent listed (and I checked our newest docs version).
There might be a manner via MinIO to run a script as a Pre-Scan process to present the cloud in a manner that our File system agent can see it.
Might be worth asking MinIO support what they suggest.
We found this https://www.commvault.com/supported-technologies
When I click on “Cloud/Object-based Storage”, I get the following list:
Commvault supports the following S3-compatible Object Storage as a data protection target:
- Amplidata
- <snip>
- IBM Cloud Object Storage
- iTernity iCAS FS
- MinIO: tested with the following reference architectures
- NEC Cloud IaaS
- <snip>
From this, how would I add minio as a data protection target ?

Hey
Good catch. I’ve raised a query with engineering and asked for clarification.
Once i hear back, I’ll post back here. It may be a little while though, so if you raise a support incident we can track closely there and perhaps get a response a little sooner.
Cheers,
Jase
Just wanted to let you know I’ve not forgotten about this one!
I’ve followed up again to try and get an answer for you and will report back as soon as i do.

Hi
Have confirmed with engineering team that documentation will be updated to reflect Mino as ‘Compatible’, however not as certified.
This is because we know it works based on a few observations:
- Many cusotmers are already using it.
- The five major hardware vendors are already supporting MinIO in their S3 object storage solution
- Nutanix Buckets, Qumulo, VMware K8 Pods, Seagate LyveCloud are using MinIO underneath, and we certified these.
I can see that the draft documentation update has been updated and expect that the public facing documentation will be updated within the next few weeks.
Cheers,
Jase
