Login issue with cloud.commvault.com ?

We are seeing“We're sorry, something went wrong. Please try again. Invalid Username or Password”when trying to access the site. There is no opportunity to enter the password. It goes straight to the error message after entering the username.

Improve file level restore performance -suggest replication techniques

Is there any way of improving performance of a file level restore approx 4.5 TB in size .It is approximately taking 26 hours to complete ?Suggest some replication techniques pertaining to this scenario apart from Continuous Data Replication in Commvault .

large capacity restores (TBs) from HNAS subclients w many shares

We have a need to restore from HNAS backups.  Currently the only way to restore is via a share path to its original destination.  With our subclients having many shares as its content, what is the best way of performing large capacity restores, (TBs)?

Restore Differential SQL Backup

Just wanted to get clarity on this matter for our DBA. We have SQL Databases that run full backups every couple of days, with Differentials running the additional days. If i choose to restore the DB out of place, and i choose the date for the differential, do i still need to restore the full from the day before as well? or does this restore both at the same time with the differential and the last full? Thanks

1-touch recovery

Hi,Maybe there is an obvious answer to this.Lets say that a branch office of ours is hit by ransamware. Luckely the local backups are untouched and may be used. But the file server, also acting media agent, and other servers are rendered useless. Further more, in case of a ransomware attack all connectivity to other sites are disconnected.Our commcell is located outside the branchoffice and isn’t reachable.In such a scenario, does that mean that we are prevented from doing a 1-touch recovery of the servers?In my mind I would think we woulden’t be able to restore anything from backups until a connection to our commcell is established.But who knows what Commvault may have up theor sleeve…. :-)BRHenke “Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens”

SQL AON backup preference changes

SQL AON backup is configured and it is known that the DB backup runs via primary node and log backup runs based on the preference settings. It was running as expected.  However, when the failover happens at DB side primary becomes secondary and vice versa. But the SQL Backup Master is still pointing to the same old primary node.  How can we make the SQL backup master services to be rolled back to the new primary node.

Some Netapp Snapshots not in "List Snapshots"

I have a Commvault installation with Netapp Storage Arrays. In our Netapp snapshots, we have multiple snapshots on different NAS volumes that have SP_X_XXXX_XXX which leads me to believe it is a snapshot that was create from Commvault. All of the settings say that data retention is only 30 days and the snapshots are not listed when clicking “List Snapshots” in the storage array. The only ones listed go back to last month, but in the Netapp Interface I'm seeing snapshots from 2018 that are yet to be deleted. Are these created by Commvault and have been forgotten? Was there an issue to delete these and Commvault no longer sees them? I can manually delete from Netapp, but I prefer to let Commvault do its job if possible. Has anyone else seen this?I work in an environment I can unfortunately not provide screenshots.

arsenal.us-gov-west-1.vpce.amazonaws.com API calls?

While logging traffic to limit the scope of outbound traffic being allowed, we are seeing calls to arsenal.*.vpce.amazonaws.com. Can someone explain how commvault is using this AWS service and what its use case would be? Right now we are only backing up EC2 and RDS.

Livesync validation failed

Hello,Our VMware Livesync validation failed due to “No host is compatible with the virtual machine”. FYI, this source VM has 48 CPU. We only has 1 ESXi host at DR site and this host does not has enough resources to cater CPU from this VM.Do we have any ways that we can configure Livesync to change the CPU on the destination VM?Regards,Asyraf

AWS & Commvault Support for IMDSv2

Hi all, We’ve recently implemented IMDSv2 to our Commvault AWS deployed infrastructure. Are there plans to support IMDSv2 in future releases of Commvault? From what I can tell right now, we are getting:“Failed to connect to virtual machine host as user “redacted” from access node “redacted”. Please select AWS proxy that has access to AWS instance metadata”Our access node authentication method is: “IAM Role” Just interested to understand is this is a limitation of the SDK being used for making connections over the API, or are we missing some permission set on our end to get this working?

Commvault AWS API Limited Permissions

Hi all, Had a question regarding the current IAM policies being provided by Commvault for AWS policies that are all documented here. My question is in relation to this policy. More pointed, I’m interested to understand if anyone has taken the time to configure these policies in a “least privilege access” approach utilizing something like condition based tags. I understand that Commvault provides this policy. But as you can see, the bottom half of that policy is still far more wide open than what would meet a “least privilege access” approach. For instance I’d like to understand what SSM is being used for and how we could approach restricting these specific permissions to only the resources we need to give it access to: "ssm:CancelCommand""ssm:SendCommand""ssm:ListCommands""ssm:ListDocuments""ssm:DescribeDocument""ssm:DescribeInstanceInformation" Open to thoughts, suggestions! Thanks,

Major project

We have a major project that will be started.For various reasons some of our compute and applications will move to Azure Gov cloud.At the present we have two commcells serving the enterprise on prem.One of them contains backups for clients that need to move.There are Local libraries for primary and Azure Libraris (Commercial cloud) for secondary copies.Preferably being able to retain backups is desiered, at least the backups that exists in Azue.I know that clients can be migrated to a new comcell but the backup data isn't migrated.Anyone gone through something like this? If so how did you tackle the task.We have just started to plan out this change and is just throwing ideas around. BRHenke

Service Now and Webhooks

Good morningI’m about to do my first Service Now integrations with Commvault. The SNOW admin is asking if Commvault is able to make use of webhooks for this integration. Commvault Command Center Dashboard Authentication Error

When loading the dashboard through the command center, loads of errors for every field say “Failed to Authenticate Token.” I’m able to authenticate through SSO but the nothing on the dashboard loads through client computer and even when trying through localhost remoting into the Commvault server (different issue). Has anyone experienced this or does anyone know which logs on the Commvault server to look at in order to get a place to start troubleshooting.-Andrew

If "Optimized For concurrent LAN backups" enabled on MA speed backup Oracle DB slowdown at 3 times

On CV 11.20.9 we backuped Oracle DB from SPARC Solaris to MA RedHar8.4.If we set “Optimized For concurrent LAN backups” on MA then speed = 1800 GB per hour, if we unset “Optimized For concurrent LAN backups”, then speed=5500 GB per hour.All other settings are identical.What changed in MA configuration when set “Optimized For concurrent LAN backups”?

Report to show Commvault client certificate status

Hi All, We recently had an issue where 1 client Commvault client certificate did not get renewed, our supported customer is a bit on edge and wants to get a report of all Commvault client certificates, when they were issued and their expiry date.Understand that Commvault auto renews the certificate 2 weeks before expiry and the details I require can be found in the Commcell Console but need to understand if such a report can be created, either from the web console, the commcell console or via the Commvault CLI that can be created in a .csv or html format.Any help would be appreciated.ThanksTom

System State Backups

Hi Folks,I am constantly battling the error System State Backup error below on many of my windows hosts: ERROR CODE [6:64]: System state backup of component [System Protected Files;] failed.Source: servername, Process: clBackup What is everyone doing to automate the remediation of this problem on your hosts? I have a moderate sized environment (~1500 hosts) so handholding each one when it pops up is a time consuming and arduous process. Thanks in advance!Sean

Has anyone experimented with the “Automatically use optimal number of data readers”?I set this on some test SubClients and it is defaulting to 1 regardless of what the manual setting is. This results in jobs taking dramatically longer? Does anyone know how the readers are optimised?Why does it default to 1 regardless of the starting position?

Performance Metrics Log

I am investigating a performance issue on a server that is both client and media agent.Looking in the PerformanceMetrics.log file I see the metrics for CPU load on some CV processes. But they seem always to be at zero.Isn’t those collected into the log file or does something need to be enabled for them to get there. I’ve attached a screenshot of that section from the log file
