Ussing plan schedule again

HelloOne of our customers used the java console to add a Plan and a custom schedule to a Commvault client. I can remove the customer schedule but I cannot add the default PLAN schedule to the client againHow can i Use the default PLAN schedule again? Thanks in advance! :-)

Deduplication - Setting Allow jobs to run to this copy while at least n partition(s) are available

This option is available only for the storage policy configured with multiple partitioned DDB.When this option selected and if you have a partially available DDB that is one of the partition is offline The backup or Auxiliary copy jobs can continue with remaining available partition of the DDB. If option checked, the CommVault warn that this option may increase space consumption on disk. If I understand the concepts correctly each partition stores a unique collection of hashes and pointers. With this option checked, space consumption on disk can increase, because Commvault would need to deduplicate some of the blocks again.  If this is correct,is the data verification job the kind of task that could identify if there are duplicate data blocks stored on disk? If the answer is yes, then it would be strongly recommended to run a data verification job after this option is checked. Especially with the DDB database completely available. Right?

Deduplication - Setting Use DDB Priming option with Source-Side Deduplication

Whenever a new DDB is created, a fresh copy of signatures and first occurrence of each subsequent data block is written to storage. However these data blocks may already exist in storage with signature contained in the sealed DDBs residing in the MediaAgent or Data Center. The DDB Priming feature looks for signatures in the previously sealed DDBs and uses them to baseline the new DDB. In source-side deduplication, this saves the need for clients to transfer data blocks that are already available in the storage.This option is not supported on archive cloud storage. Two questions here:  However these data blocks may already exist in storage with signature contained in the sealed DDBs residing in the MediaAgent or Data Center. Data Center? What is a Data Center in CommVault?  The DDB Priming feature looks for signatures in the previously sealed DDBs and uses them to baseline the new DDB. How the Commvault accomplish it? Does Commvault copy signatures from the sealed DDB to the new DDB? Or

Print List of Tapes in VaultTrack Container

Is there a way to print the tapes that are in a VaultTracker Container? I do not see any way or workaround method to do this.

DDB threshold reached max limit

Hi Team,The DDB partition Q&I time is very high post changed the DDB partition location. I have moved the DDB partition recently from one drive to another due to space was full.As per storage team, we are using Lun assigned NLSAS_SSD drives on our MA. Now all the backups are running very slow. I want to reduce the Q&I time or else want to run the DDB on single (T:\ DDB) partition. because the backups are running fine using that DDB(when i was moved the DDB that time it was used another partition) Please suggest on this.I have raised a case to vendor, they are suggesting to run the ConvertDDBToV5 workflow job and waiting for the steps and DT.

Windows Server 2022 local firewall excludes

Hi All, maybe you can give me an hint. I have an new windows server 2022 mediaagent in a remote datacenter wich is needed for auxcopy. The connection between source and destination ma is over an vpn and there are no rules aktive.  When we have the windows domain firewall aktive we get a lot of chunk errors and we get errors during connecting the ddbs,  i run the the AddFWExclusions script in the base folder but i think there are a lot of processes and ports missing.  is there an instruction or another possibility to set all needed commvault processes and ports into the local windows firewall ?

enabling multiple sessions for RMAN (RAC) backup to improve backup performance

In our environment we are using Disk library for all our backups and all the backups are running in a single session. To improve backup timings of one of the Oracle node, we are planning to increase the sessions in commvault. My question is, other than changing the settings in subclient level, do we have to increase the channels in RMAN script to make it work? Thanks.hutamit

Is this service ''GxClusPlugin'' should be up on the passive windows node ??

Just need to confirm something about the Commvault GxClusPlugin and any services like that while configuring any fail over sql cluster .I believe that these services should be down not active on the passive node.Also need to know if there is any failure in Commvault sw, the cluster movement from primary  to secondary will fail ??

DDB Backup Failure

Hi Team, I’m frequently seeing below error for many DDB Backups and getting failed.Error Code: [6:43]Backup failed: unable to open or read a file. Configured to fail on any error. Please check the following: 1. The account that the File System agent uses has sufficient privileges to back up files. 2. The data being backed up can be accessed and is not on a path that is unmounted or is inaccessible. 3. A third-party product is not locking the files. 4. There is no corruption of the data on the disk. 5. If some failures are expected, please change the current setting so that the backups can complete. Please let me know how to resolve this error. Regards,Harshavardhan.

Clarification on Deleting Jobs on Tape

 Hello, I am updating some our documentation on our best practices to securely delete files from file server's backups.The file server backups in questions are only stored on a primary copy residing on tape, encrypted via AES 256 per the storage policy, and using the built in key management server. Normally if we need to delete a file, we follow the documentation  and use the delete data by browsing option. For clarification, if I use the "delete data by browsing option" and delete a file that resides offsite on tape, there is no way to recover that file, correct? There is no way to "Un-Age" or catalog operation on the tape I could perform if I were to insert it back into my tape library? I assume that the CommCell destroys the indexed data/encryption keys associated with that file and cannot read that block of data on the tape? Recently I noticed an option in the CommCell browser where I can delete content of an entire tape. Changing SQL Server virtual machine backup type to Application Consistent

Hi there,We have a virtual machine with SQL Server being backed up with backup type ‘File System and Application Consistent (Needs VMWare Tools installed)’. This backup is succeeding. If we change to using Application Aware processing, will a new full backup be required - and will this backup be deduplicated as normal? Or will this require a net new backup that is not deduplicated against the existing historical?Thanks for your help.

Vm Backup with separate file system agent?

On the same system, is it possible to deploy both a virtual agent and a file system agent?We want to backup only the VM level status of the server, but their file system will be backed up separately due to the fact that the server system files are too large (12TB in size) and it takes too long to restore if the server is backed up with only the virtual server agent.

Hi, Just want to ask if there are specific use cases or features that Hyperscale X can provide without Commvault Backup and Recovery or Disaster Recovery software? Or would I need CV backup and recovery to enjoy the features of the Hyperscale X reference architecture (i.e. would I have backup and recovery capabilities using the hyperscale X reference architecture on my servers alone without the CV Backup and Recovery license)

we have production 3 nodes and 3 nodes for DR , to aviod bandwidth issue we set up dr nodes in production site and created the cluster , done the first full copies , now we want to move it to the new site with different ip address  is it doable

Cant Change Device Streams

Hi All, maybe you have an idear :) We have 2 customers with very old installations i think. Actually we had the problem that we cant increase the number of streams in the storage policy. The number of streams on all mount pathes is max.  Do you have an idear ?

automaticly setting media to full

Hi,I am looking for a way, for example via workflow, to set all started (partially written) media (tapes) to full at the end of a quarter so that the backups for the new quarter all go to new tapes. We can not use the vault tracker because there are not enough export slots (or how does it work if a medium is to be exported via vault tracker but all mailslots are full ??). Or can we also use the vault tracker to just mark the media of the past quarter for export only (and disabling further writes)  without exporting the tapes  to the mailslots themselves so that we can take out the tapes in the order we want?Best regardsFrank

Error when copying the same sessions to a different tape

Hello, I have an error when trying to copy sessions from disk to tape, I get a message "does not need to be copied". I had previously copied this session to a tape and now I also need to copy it to a different tape.

Alert mailboxes from cache

Hi All, is it possible to create an alert for exchange online mailbox backup. When the Cache update is older than x days   Showing mailboxes from cache last updated on: Apr 17, 8:49 AM We had some enviroments hwere the cache update and auto discover does not work. Thsi cause potential data loss.  the stupid thing here is that the mailbox backup shown as completeded even if there are a lot of skipped mailboxes with that kind of error: Mailbox [Extra] not found in local mailbox cache. Please make sure local mailbox cache is available and refreshed without error.  So we want to get an alert when the cache is to old.
