Hello everyone,

I’ve created a new OneDrive backup using the Command Center and have been manually adding users for the past few weeks.  I’d like to configure it to back up all users automatically but the documentation doesn’t match the user interface.

For example these directions don’t match what I see in portal.azure.com:

https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/150329_adding_onedrive_license_enabled_users_using_microsoft_dynamics_azure_ad_group.html

And these directions don’t match the Command Center interface:

https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/135989_adding_all_users_to_onedrive_for_business_app.html

I opened ticket 230605-558 and suggested maybe I could have an online session since the documentation is incorrect but was told that’s not an option and that I’d have to engage professional services.

Does anyone have some recommendations on how to get this set up?

Ken

Hello @Orazan,

Yes, after some struggles with the first analyst assigned to my support ticket who refused to help, I was able to get things on track and have made the following recommandations to update the CommVault online documentation.

Update #1

The instructions from

https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/150329_adding_onedrive_license_enabled_users_using_microsoft_dynamics_azure_ad_group.htmlthat read:

  1. Log on to the Azure Active Directory portal.
  2. Click All services.
  3. Under Identity, click Groups, and then click New group.

The New Group page appears.

But they should read:

  1. Log on to portal.azure.com
  2. Click on More Services then Azure Active Directory
  3. In the Manage section on the left, click on Groups and then click New group

The New Group page appears.

Update #2

The instructions from:

https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/150329_adding_onedrive_license_enabled_users_using_microsoft_dynamics_azure_ad_group.html read:

  1. In the Value box, enter the following value:

((user.assignedPlans -any (assignedPlan.servicePlanId -In ["13696edf-5a08-49f6-8134-03083ed8ba30" ,"afcafa6a-d966-4462-918c-ec0b4e0fe642" ,"da792a53-cbc0-4184-a10d-e544dd34b3c1" ,"da792a53-cbc0-4184-a10d-e544dd34b3c1" ,"98709c2e-96b5-4244-95f5-a0ebe139fb8a" ,"e95bec33-7c88-4a70-8e19-b10bd9d0c014" ,"fe71d6c3-a2ea-4499-9778-da042bf08063" ,"5dbe027f-2339-4123-9542-606e4d348a72" ,"e03c7e47-402c-463c-ab25-949079bedb21" ,"63038b2c-28d0-45f6-bc36-33062963b498" ,"c7699d2e-19aa-44de-8edf-1736da088ca1" ,"5dbe027f-2339-4123-9542-606e4d348a72" ,"902b47e5-dcb2-4fdc-858b-c63a90a2bdb9" ,"8f9f0f3b-ca90-406c-a842-95579171f8ec" ,"153f85dd-d912-4762-af6c-d6e0fb4f6692" ,"735c1d98-dd3f-4818-b4ed-c8052e18e62d" ,"e03c7e47-402c-463c-ab25-949079bedb21" ,"e5bb877f-6ac9-4461-9e43-ca581543ab16" ,"a361d6e2-509e-4e25-a8ad-950060064ef4" ,"527f7cdd-0e86-4c47-b879-f5fd357a3ac6" ,"a1f3d0a8-84c0-4ae0-bae4-685917b8ab48"] -and assignedPlan.capabilityStatus -eq "Enabled"))

However, using that value doesn’t work.  After some playing around, I found the problem to be the “user.assignedPlans -any (“ portion (highlighted in yellow below)

((user.assignedPlans -any (assignedPlan.servicePlanId -In ["13696edf-5a08-49f6-8134-03083ed8ba30" , …

Removing that section so the Value reads as show below fixes the problem.

  1. In the Value box, enter the following value:

((assignedPlan.servicePlanId -In ["13696edf-5a08-49f6-8134-03083ed8ba30" ,"afcafa6a-d966-4462-918c-ec0b4e0fe642" ,"da792a53-cbc0-4184-a10d-e544dd34b3c1" ,"da792a53-cbc0-4184-a10d-e544dd34b3c1" ,"98709c2e-96b5-4244-95f5-a0ebe139fb8a" ,"e95bec33-7c88-4a70-8e19-b10bd9d0c014" ,"fe71d6c3-a2ea-4499-9778-da042bf08063" ,"5dbe027f-2339-4123-9542-606e4d348a72" ,"e03c7e47-402c-463c-ab25-949079bedb21" ,"63038b2c-28d0-45f6-bc36-33062963b498" ,"c7699d2e-19aa-44de-8edf-1736da088ca1" ,"5dbe027f-2339-4123-9542-606e4d348a72" ,"902b47e5-dcb2-4fdc-858b-c63a90a2bdb9" ,"8f9f0f3b-ca90-406c-a842-95579171f8ec" ,"153f85dd-d912-4762-af6c-d6e0fb4f6692" ,"735c1d98-dd3f-4818-b4ed-c8052e18e62d" ,"e03c7e47-402c-463c-ab25-949079bedb21" ,"e5bb877f-6ac9-4461-9e43-ca581543ab16" ,"a361d6e2-509e-4e25-a8ad-950060064ef4" ,"527f7cdd-0e86-4c47-b879-f5fd357a3ac6" ,"a1f3d0a8-84c0-4ae0-bae4-685917b8ab48"] -and assignedPlan.capabilityStatus -eq "Enabled"))

Update #3

The instructions from:

https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/130872_add_user_groups_to_onedrive_for_business_app.html read:

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Office 365.

The Office 365 apps page appears.

  1. In the Name column, click the app.

          The app page appears.

          …

But they should read:

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Office 365.

The Office 365 apps page appears.

  1. Click the Apps tab and in the Name column, click the app.

          The app page appears.

          …

I’ve had a brief online session with the second analyst to review the configuration and he belives everything looks good and has said he’ll bring forward the recommended changes to the documentation.  As everything appears to be working, I’ve closed that support ticket.
