Can you check this link please:

The instance must reside on the computer where you plan to install the server package.

the port used to cennect to sql server is a personalised port

this procedure is for installing commserve with existing instence on the same server.

According to Commvault support, it is not recommended at all to configure Commvault with a database on another server.
