Hello,

the cliente need to migrate MS SQL Server database for the new server by Continuous Data Replicator.

Someone already made this procedure and can help me?

I install SQL Server in 2 servers and add to Commcell.

Current version of Commvault: 11 SP 13+

**Do i need to upgrade Commvault before migrating?

Current version of SQL: 2012

And the cliente is asking to me what the best version will migrate? 2019 standard or enterprise?

Fernando, perform a database restore from the console, once you have performed the SQL database backup from our SQL agent. You have a simplified restore, just select the right choice for you: https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp20/article?p=112786.htm

Yes you restore to disk and you get these files, now you can try to use Management Studio to restore from these files or select the additional option Attach to SQL server.

All these MS SQL Database restores brings *.bak

you have to follow these steps: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/backup-restore/restore-a-database-to-a-new-location-sql-server?view=sql-server-ver15

Hi @Fernando Souza

  • Can you confirm the databases are configured in full mode on the sql server?
  • Have you completed an initial full backup of the SQL subclient yet?

You must have a backup in order to perform a Live Sync operation. If you have installed the SQL Server agent on the client, but have not yet performed a backup, then the software does not display any databases in the SQL Live Sync Options dialog box.

Note: You can only use the Live Sync feature with SQL databases that use the Full Recovery model.

Hello

@Ledoesp @Mike Struening @Sean Crifasi

The sql database admin verified the restore and it´s OK.

Then now i need to replicate to another SQL Database, in the same version,

Do i use “Live Sync” or “Continuous Data Replicator" to replicate database SQL?

Hello @Ledoesp @Mike Struening @Sean Crifasi

i made the restore of the database(production) to the new machines, but i´m getting this error, i think is related to licensing, could you help me?

It is license related. You have 3 licenses for the 3 production servers however there is a 4th server named sql01 where you are trying to run a job, not sure if a backup or a restore because you don’t provide the right details.

Release SQL license in sql01 if you are running a restore, if you are running a backup, buy additional licenses or release one for the three SQL production servers.
