Hi,

Does anybody know if Sybase 17 is currently supported by Commvault.

when looking in docs https://documentation.commvault.com/11.25/expert/3102_sybase_system_requirements_03.html

it says:

Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise 16.0 SP03 PL07 and More Recent Versions

but I am unsure if that means v16 and higher SPs or v16 and any “More Recent Versions” like v17.

Please let me know.

Good question…..I’m asking the docs team now.

side note: I created a Doc MR in your name in advance!

@Robert Horowski , can you confirm if you are looking for Sybase Anywhere or Sybase ASE?

Hi Robert,

can you please confirm if you are looking for Sybase Anywhere and not Sybase ASE?

Thanks,

Brahma

Hi @Mike Struening and @Brahma

Thanks for getting back to me. That is the question I wasn’t asking myself :-)

Let me get back with it to the customer and I will update as soon as I get answer. Since it’s already past 9PM my time it will probably have to wait until tomorrow.

Thanks!

Fair enough!

I’ll be here once you hear back.

Hi @Mike Struening and @Brahma

So I spoke with the customer and he confirmed that it’s actually SQL Anywhere and not ASE. Since SQL Anywhere is backed up by FS agent with prescan script then it probably means that it should work.

Let me know if I am right!

Thanks!

Ha!  I was coming here to provide you with the same detail!

From dev: SQL anywhere can be backed up using file system and we don't have agent support . https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/22682_configuring_sybase_sql_anywhere.html

Sap ASE has not released 17 yet

You have the answer already!

I’m glad you ask me about SQL Anywhere. All is good, case closed :-)
