Hi all,

do you have any idea how to troubleshoot this issue - While accessing a drive the Serial Number [xxx] is different from expected Serial Number [yyy]

It seems, that there is a mismatch in communication between two tape drives and the library. We have already tried to deconfigure/configure tape library within Commvault without success.

Hello @drPhil

Thanks for the great question! These kinds of issues it is best to work with support as they can be triggered by a number of things but if you want to try something first you could do a “full extensive scan”

https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/10548_scsicmd_tool.html

NOTE: before running this you need to stop the Commvault services on the MA and then run this tool.

Please advise if this assisted your issue

Kind regards

Hi @Albert Williams thank you for pointing me to useful information. Indeed, I have followed an article from knowledge base ( https://ma.commvault.com/Article/Details/64369 ). Simply, I have disabled sd card reader in the BIOS/UEFI. Then, the issue with serial number mismatch disappeared.

However, the tape drive is still failing to offline status with the offline reason ‘’The SCSI command to drive is stuck on the active drive controlling MediaAgent. Please restart services on this MediaAgent.’’, Unfortunately, restarting media agent didnt help. I will deal with this issue as part of the already created thread ‘’
