Hi All,

- primary backup many VMs to primary site local disk library with synthetic Full and daily Inc policy schedule 7PM

- second backup synchronous copy synthetic Full and Inc from primary backup to DR site local disk library

- tape backup synchronous copy Inc from source second backup

- tape backup selective copy weekly full from source second backup

Refer aux copy schedule. By default, the Continuous option is selected and auxiliary copy operations run at 30 minutes interval. that these operations will be performed only when new data that needs to be copied is found on the primary copy (or source copy).

Q1. if primary backup start 7PM and finished 9PM, when will second backup start? is 30 mins after primary finished or when primary backup progress 30 mins (because new data that needs to be copied is found on the primary)?

Q2, refer Q1, when will tape backup execute? is 30 mins after second backup finished or when second backup progress 30 mins (because new data that needs to be copied is found on the source)?

Best regards

Hello @Chinchilla

A continuous schedule (this is true for all types that use it and not just Aux copy ) is based on the end time of the last job that ran. Once the amount of time has passed from the end time of the last job a new job will run.

In regards to your second question there is a fundamental rule with Aux copy jobs is that we cannot copy data that is not ready to be copied. This is true for a Backup in progress or an Aux copy data that is still moving the data. That data that is being backed up or moved is not a valid copy for a new Aux copy job untill it is complete.

Kind regards

Albert Williams
