Q2. if use media explorer with same Commserve CS1, could allow catalog the media using Media Explorer?

Best regards

Hello @Chinchilla

Your questions are not 100% clear but i am guessing you are wanting to know if you can restore data from Tape using Media explorer or use catalog tape feature in the case you have Direct Media Access set to “no Access”.

The following goes into the feature its self:
https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/data_encryption_online_help.html

From this we know when you have “No Access” set the keys to the encryption are not stored on the media. They are stored in the CSDB so this means you will be able to do the catalog tape job without issue.

I am unsure on the media explorer job, I am confirming with a workmate and will get back to you on that one.

Kind regards

Albert Williams
