Edge monitor app - access restricion

We have metallic Saas license for endpoint, we are trying to push agent using silent method with authcode. it has completed for one laptop.

but we dont want the laptop user to pause or start on demand backup.

can the user do on demand backup or pause the backup or restore the data without username and password.

no owner for the laptop as of now. does the user has access to pause or run on demand backup or restore the backup using edge monitor app.

As I understand you would like to hide Edge monitor from the Laptop users, so that they can not control the backups. 

 

While the installation you may use the below Command:

WindowsEndpoint64.exe /silent /install /authcode authcode /hideapps

 

This will hide the edge monitor application and Metallic shortcuts from the end users.

Thanks for the update. I have a question regarding the installation process using the following command:

WindowsEndpoint64.exe /silent /install /authcode authcode /hideapps

Currently, users are unable to restore their data as they don’t have individual login details. I have assigned all laptops to the IT support user as the owner.

Could this setup cause any issues? Additionally, the licenses are not updating correctly since all laptops are linked to a single IT support user.

Would having a single owner for all laptops impact functionality or licensing? Also, does the license count depend on the number of owners or the actual number of laptops?

Looking forward to your insights.

You need to assign the users as owner to the account. Once done, their Login credentials will be created on Metallic Console. Thus user can login and manage their laptop backup/restores.

The Endpoint licenses are based on Per User (up to 3 machines), once you assign a user as the owner to the laptop machine, it will consume the license.  Single owner to all laptop does not impact the backup functionality, but may cause restore challenges and manage multiple restore requests thus impacting the Admin user daily works.

The Endpoint licenses are based on Per User (up to 3 machines)

If a single user exceeds this limit and has more than three machines, will there be any impact on the backup and restore service?

Apart from the increased workload for the user managing multiple devices, will this exceedance affect the service or licensing in any way? Since the license is assigned to a single user, will the additional machines remain unlicensed ?
