I have done some restores from M365 OneDrive And exchange online from Commvault Cloud ( Metallic)

in Aprik 2025 .

Now my auditor wants to see which restore i did in month of April , i dont see name of user in job history.

The job history only says, source servers and destination servers ( app name) and not name of users for which i did restore.

When i click view logs , it says “ no data available”.

is it by design or some issue?

Hi,

Commvault Cloud, operating in a shared (multi-tenant) configuration, generates a high volume of logs due to continuous backup jobs and service/module activities across multiple companies. Given this high activity level:

  • Log Retention: By default, Commvault retains only a limited number of recent log versions.

  • Log Overwriting: Older logs are automatically overwritten as new ones are generated, often few last versions are stored

  • Retention Window: Typically, job logs are accessible for a short period (e.g., 1–2 days). Logs older than this, such as those from 30 days ago, are no longer available. So you won’t be able to check the details, only high level.

This behavior is by design to manage storage and performance in the shared cloud environment.

thats fine but why dont they show at least what we restored in that job ? the job history has no info at all, just number of files, date , speed the most critical thing of showing what we resored is not available then what is use of this log?

Most of the data should be available, but mostly it’s written somewhere between the logs, so it’s hardly readable. For the future, you can always rise a Customer Modification Request to your Customer Success Manager (Commvault Cloud contact/caretaker) to suggest this idea. They may implement such change in the future.
