We started using Metallic O365 backups back when it was Infinite Retention.  We have reached 70% of our Quota in just a little over two years and would like to investigate why.  We manage Storage in our On-Prem Commvault by setting the retentions below.  I do not find these granular settings in the Cloud Portal.

Can I set these specific retentions within the Metallic Office 365 Backup Environment?

I want to start with our standard retention limit,  Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly.

Daily - 7 Copies

Weely - 5 Copies (Each Saturday)

Monthly - 12 Copies (Last backup of each day of Month)

Yearly 5 Copies - (Last backup of each year)

Good Day @Griz,

With SaaS, we only go with the “Deleted Items” which will be set at the Plan level.
You can refer the documentation: https://docs.metallic.io/metallic/configuring_standard_and_enterprise_plans_for_o365.html#configuring-the-subscription-for-o365-plans

But, going apart from this configuration would be an drift from the SaaS configuration - which we would suggest to log an case with Support so we can check with the possibilities based on the Business requirements and why we are looking for this other way configuration.

Let me know if any questions, thanks!

Yep, it could be a problem, since M365 backup is more like Exchange archiving, where you cannot set daily/weekly/monthly backup retention as it is for the VMs or DBs. Due to that some companies are not able to fully meet compliance requirements.

You can open new Custom Modification Request via Support or your Customer Success Manager and ask for that future, maybe in the future Commvault will implement something similar.
