Hi there,

Since we upgraded to 11.24 from 11.20 I’ve noticed all our linux servers fail to have quiesced backups (windows servers are fine). We use openvmtools on the linux servers so I’m surmising that commvault thinks vmware tools isn't installed on the linux servers and performs a non quiesced backup? Manually taking a quiesced snapshot in Vmware for any of these servers works fine. I’m wondering is this normal behaviour?

Cheers!

Maurice

Can you screenshot the properties of the snapshot when it’s quiesced as shown below?
CommVault makes an API request, the snapshot it taken\handled by Vmware.

Logs will either show pass or fail. If the quiesce is successful, the job moves on, if not, it’s flagged and a non-quiesced is requested.

Aha! I see what you mean. They must have never quiesced and are now being reported by commvault. Thanks for the info! I’ll dig deeper on the linux side.

At some point over the summer, VMware stopped reporting this in the event viewer and you have to look at the snapshots now.
