Hi All,

Hope All Are are doing well !!

I have configured a Azure file share backup from GUI with storage account (file.core.windows.net)

and access key , configuration is successful and we are able to see the all folder from storage account from the content  but issue here is we are unable to see the files from the folder, those file share protocol is NFS and the cloud apps package is installed on MA which acts as a access node for the Azure File share backup when i run the backup it fails with no content to backup. but file are available from the folder. i have run an cloud test tool from the client were file share is mounted it shows below error. PFA of error.

i have raised a MS case for this from there side MS engineer coudnt found any error log.

and i raised commvault case CV engineer is saying it a curl error solved by MS engineer.

now both the engineer are landed with no clue for this error.

could you please some help me to fix this issue.

Hello @sasanka LV

Since its a fresh configuration, please take a look carefully in the below guide and confirm if everything was configured as per the documentation?

 https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/133603_getting_started_with_azure_files_nfs_file_shares.html

Best,

Rajiv Singal

Hi Rajiv,

Thanks for replay, yes it is an fresh configuration in the environment.

the provided documentation by you is with NFS  that is we have to configure separately one by one.

but our configuration is on azure file were are folders are created under a storage account and we have configured the storage account by using the Access key to backup all shared files at once.

issue here is we are unable to see files from commvault GUI.

Hello @sasanka LV

I believe you have configured Azure instance in Commvault using: https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/147910_getting_started_with_azure_file_share.html ?

Since the browse itself is not happening, could you please confirm if the Host URL you have added in Commvault is correct? It should  be in the format like: https://<storage-account>.file.core.windows.net . You can get the exact URL from your Azure portal.

Secondly, could you confirm if internet is enabled on the access node? Also, are you able to reach the above URL on port 443 from your Access node?

Best,

Rajiv Singal

Hi Rajiv,

Access node is able to do telnet on 443 PFA and it has internet and also URL using  is https://SA.file.core.windows.net same from azure portal.

if possible could you please check from below link it is from community only  i am unable to get the solution for the same issue.

Regards,

Sasanka lv

Hi @sasanka LV

Can you share the cvd.log and CloudActivity log on the Access node when you are trying to browse for content?

Let me try to review the whole set of logs and look out for any errors/warnings.

Meanwhile, could you please try the article once for disabling certificate validation checks: https://kb.commvault.com/article/54265

Best,

Rajiv Singal

Hi Rajiv,

PFA of logs.

I will take a look. Did you try to follow the article and see if that helped?

Best,

Rajiv Singal

@Rajiv i have added the additional setting at commserver, but no luck issue is same.

Hi @sasanka LV, the integer value is case sensitive, it should be applied in the exact same way its written (mix of capital and small letters) and this should be set on Media Agent/Access node.

Could you please confirm if you have performed it correctly as I mentioned above?

If yes, can you share the cvd, CloudActivity log, vsbkp.log from the access node again after these changes?

Best,

Rajiv Singal

@Rajiv i have added the integer value as it is on a MA and checked issue is same and also attached the logs after changes from access node PFA ,unable to get the vsbkp.log from access node as well as commserv.

sasanka lv

I went through the logs and got a few errors in both the logs:

4596  1978  06/28 10:33:08 ##### CVBaseRemoteFileWrapper::GetFileList(409) - Failed to get files list. Errorr44110]1Error = 44110]
4596  1978  06/28 10:33:08 ##### ServerManager::ProcessMessage() - ProcessMachineBrowseRequest failed, error='0x8007065B:{ProcessMachineBrowseRequest(3661)} + {HandleCloudBrowse(682)} + {CVDC_Cloud::CCloudStorageBrowse::MachineBrowse(489)/W32.1627.(Function failed during execution. (ERROR_FUNCTION_FAILED.1627))-Failed to get file list for /usrsap-trans-rd4}'

Please try the following options:

  1. The access node if its on the Azure itself, you will have to enable the below options under VM networking for this proxy/access node:

Make sure to allow access from proxy/access node.

  1. I also see the GET requests in cloudactivity.log is failing:

4596  1978  06/28 10:33:06 ##### 3cvd] Curl Error: 56, GET https://fileshare/user?comp=list&restype=directory

From your Azure cloud shell, are you able to run the same API that you see in cloudactivity.log?

@Rajiv thanks , i will be checking with my azure engineer internally and let you by Friday.

@Rajiv from Azure portal Access key status is enabled and also from networking  side all virtual networks is added PFA under vm access node. i have raised a support case # 230615-483 will see what options will come.

@sasanka LV thanks for the update. I will keep monitoring the case and see how it goes. However, could you also update if you were able to get the output of the GET command I asked you to run on the Azure cloud shell?

Rajiv Singal

Updating answer of this thread for visibility:

=========================================================================

As per the below BOL,

https://documentation.commvault.com/2023/essential/127657_backups_for_azure_file_storage_01.html

Cloud apps NFS share backup is not supported. So we have created the NAS/NFS sub-client and added the access node and then added the path manually. Now the backup is running fine.
