Description was not ported over to CC because we are extending the “tag” capabilities from activate to the core platform. Below you can see you can tag a server with multiple tags or tag pairs. This will allow for better integration into cloud based tags, and can be queried/leveraged for automation, reporting, and other programmatic needs.

3 years later,
Is Commvault working on adding a description field in Command Center ?
Surely the extension of Tags, covering every possible use case of the Description field, is coming any day now...
Tags can be assigned to Clients in Command Center (Manage > Servers ). It is available in 11.34.

I am sure Tags have their place, but for my use case they’re too rigid when compared to a free-text Description field.
I understand that certain characters are restricted in tag creation. Are there other limitations you find restrictive? Please share more details so we can address these issues within tags or consider adding a description field in Command Center.
An update : Support for adding descriptions is now in progress and will be available in one of the upcoming releases.

Thank you!
Will Descriptions be re-added for all entities? (Clients, Agents, Subclients, Plans, Libraries, etc.)
