Hi All,

i have an bad point… I know lic reporting is not easy. I had the following situation. We are using Commvault Backup and Recovery by capacity for vsa and database.

We had an lic used growth from +4tb during the last 24 hours. Yesterday we had 49Tb from 50Tb used and today we are using 53Tb and of course the customer is know asking what happend here.

For me its very dificult to find out what happend here. I checked the bigges vsa player from full to full if there is any increase but i found nothing also the biggest db server from full to full but also nothing.

I send every 14 Day an lic zum report but there i only can see wich typ of application is using how much from the capacity lic

So what can i do ?

Hi @SSchmidt ,

You may use the License Summary Report to help you finding out which iDA is consuming more license

https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/license_summary_report_01.html

If you know the exact day the license started growing, you could restore the previous day CSDB on an isolated environment to check its figures, then compare them with your current usage and check which iDA is consuming more capacity license.

Check if you can remember any changes to the environment that may be causing the growth. Are the VSA iDAs now backing up more VMs? Or does any new VM being added to a subclient that may be consuming more license?

I do agree sometimes it is not easy to pinpoint exactly where the growth is, but comparing your current usage with a CSDB right before it happened should help.
