Question

DB2 Restore Running Very Slow - Restore to Disk

Forum|alt.badge.img+2

Dear Experts

We are trying to Restore Db2 Database to different Server ( Restore to Disk ), Media Read Performance is very low and Opened case with Commvault 250310-318. Media management team checked and confirmed no issues from environment side as we are getting Good read/write throughput.  and CV tests are Passed.

We tested FS restore, which gave Good throughput and DB2 Restore still having issues.

Any Suggestions & inputs why Media Read performance is too low…, and why Slowness is occurring ?

Hi @OP Team

Was DB2 restore and FS restore tested from same backup media?

what’s the result of Cvdiskperf utility against mount path holding db2 backup data

Hi,

From the log snippets and screen shots the most amount of time spent was while reading from the media which appears to be very slow indeed. As explained by CV_GK , you will need to first identify the media/mount path where the DB2 backups happened originally and then run the Mount path validation test (READ stats are important ) in order to determine the read speed you are getting from the test . Though the file system and DB2 backups are part of the same Storage policy , the actual backup of the FS and DB2 agents may have happened on different destinations/Mount paths . You will first need to figure out the actual media and run the tests and then determine the next course of action .

Thanks & Regards
