Hi there!

My task is to test how Commvault Endpoint protection works. However, I am still a little bit confused.

How should I deploy Commvault Endpoint Protection client? There is only possibility to deploy standard File System agents to ensure backup and recovery of PCs, isn't?. So, where is the diferrence between standard Backup solution and Endpoint protection?

In fact, what is the best Commvault product for disaster recovery of endpoint clients - specifically personal computers? Is it really Commvault Endpoint Protection?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @drPhil

Please take a look at this Solution Use-Case for Endpoint Protection, which is your best starting point:

Please let me know if you have any further questions on specific items.

Thanks,

Stuart

Hi @Stuart Painter,

great! Thank you. Now I understand how to deploy this Endpoint Protection.

Just one question regarding licensing. If you want to purchase Endpoint Protection, you will have to buy Commvault Backup and Recovery and within it specify the number of endpoint devices. Or at least, you cannot buy Endpoint Protection without having Commvault Backup and Recovery environmet. Am I right?

@drPhil , there’s a detailed breakdown on what you get with Commvault Complete (or other licenses)here:

https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp20/others/pdf/commvault-complete-license-guide.pdf

Depending on what you have now, you may already have the license for Endpoint (your Account Rep can clear that up and discuss options if you need additional licenses).

Thanks @Mike Struening That’s something what proves my assumption. Definitely, detailed information should be discused with Account Rep.
