Hi,

I understand that Commvault only backs up (User / Group / Shared) Exchange Online Mailboxes with a Microsoft mailbox license assigned.

  1. Is this correct?
  2. If this is correct, is there a possibility to automatically exclude from backup all (User / Group / Shared) Mailboxes without a Microsoft mailbox license, so that for once in a lifetime the Exchange Online backup can complete succesfully without any mentioning of failed / skipped mailboxes?

Thank you so much!

Hello @iConsultant ,

Thanks for the question. You are correct that we protect users based on if they have a license or not as the following goes over:

https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/125239_getting_started_with_exchange_online.html

In regards to your exclude based backup you have a few choices when you configure the "content" tab of the O365 agent in the Command Center.

Once you configure this selection by default it will be included in the backup but you can then exclude this group from backup.

This is commonly used if you have 1 group where it is all mailbox's and then an AD group which you exclude making a small group of users skipped.

Please advise if this answers all your questions or if I have missed something.
