Hoping to get an answer from the very well educated Community on the following question!

What is the data path for Linux VM file / folder restorations done using FREL? What talks to what and over what port? Obviously, we have Media Agent and the VSA Access node involved writing directly into the ESXi datastore but where does the FREL fit into the connectivity picture?

I have multiple ESXi hosts and a complex firewall configuration. I’m assuming a single FREL can service multiple ESXI hosts without issue but what ports do I need to open between which devices and which way? I’m guessing ports 8400 and 8403 but between which devices?

TIA!

Hello @Glenno

The FREL simply writes Linux Filesystem data to storage and reads Linux Filesystem Data from storage.

You can refer you our documentatio below on proper configuration.

Thanks Colin! I will allow rules for both Media agent and VSA and should be good to go!
